Message I used to think we should shut down the general forum but Damon and Greg have given the mods a lot of room to enforce their rules and keep the place clean. And I think we've done a good job. We piss off everyone equally. Noobs and vets alike. That, to me, is a sign of success.

If you step back and look, there's not really much bashing of individuals. Sure, there are some people who colorfully express their dislike of some people's choices. But search around. How many of these victims of of a "veteran's wrath" actually complain about it? Hardly any. They move on. Either they do their own thing despite the criticism or they rethink it. The only ones bitching are a few squeaky wheels that think this place should be some sort of utopia.

With the exception of the Z1 and Wagz sagas this place is really pretty civil with a certain amount of moderator oversight. We don't allow personal attacks of any sort. No name calling and no personal vendettas. What do Wagz and Z1 have in common? They have adament defenders that blow their stack when anyone doesn't heap praise upon them. When Guapo pointed out a couple of minor faults of streetneeds the whole lazyfuck brigade stepped in and all hell broke loose. Did they really need to run straight to Sean and tattle? No. If they didn't we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Would there be hundreds of responses to a criticism of Z1 if a certain group didn't rush to defend Z1 at every turn? No. If they just let it go the Z1 critcism would just roll off the page without much fanfare. Instead they feel the need to address and counter every tiny little criticism for a hundred posts. To me, a thread like that sticks out like a sore thumb.

These people think that everyone should be nice and if they see something they don't like, just ignore it. The Z1 and lazyfuck cheerleaders need to take their own advice. Just because not everyone likes streetneeds or Z1 doesn't mean it's the end of the world.

Aside from these two examples I challenge anyone to illustrate any sort of epidemic of hate that exists here. Ten bucks says they can't do it. The General forum is fine. The whiners need to back off just like they insist the "haters" do.

Too late to die young now
